
Serene Wong

Serene Wong (she/her) is a company dancer with Spectrum Dance Theater. She began her early ballet education at Huntington Academy of Dance in Southern California, where she completed Cecchetti USA examinations through Grade 5. She received her pre-professional training in classical ballet, modern, jazz, flamenco, and character styles at International Ballet Academy in Bellevue, WA. She went on to Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s graduate program, where she performed with the company in Terence Orr’s The Nutcracker and toured with Shana Simmons Dance. During these years, she received additional training from Houston Ballet Academy, American Ballet Theatre School, the School of Philadelphia Ballet, and Oklahoma City Ballet School.
After attending the Byrd Workshop in 2022, Serene was invited by artistic director Donald Byrd to join Spectrum Dance Theater, now in her fourth season with the company. In 2025, she graduated magna cum laude from the University of Washington with a BA in Linguistics and a minor in Data Science. Alongside the performance season, she teaches ballet and contemporary in the greater Seattle area and has guest performed with International Ballet Theater and Chamber Dance Company.
