Sydney Meyer

Sydney Meyer, from Union, Mo, began her training under the direction of Jo Phinney at the age of five. Sydney received her BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from the University of Missouri- Kansas City in May, 2021. Her time at UMKC provided her with extensive training in ballet, jazz, and a variety of codified modern techniques. Sydney has had the privilege of performing works by Kevin Iega Jeff, Christopher Huggins, DeeAnna Hiett, Gary Abbott, Micheal Blake, Karen Brown, Cleo Parker Robinson, and Ronald Tice. She accompanied DeeAnna Hiett and taught alongside her this past summer at the Whidbey Island Dance Intensive. Sydney was also a modern dance teaching assistant to Gary Abbott. Sydney has recently performed at the Seattle International Dance Festival with Khambatta Dance Company and the Newport Dance Festival (2021). She has appeared as a guest artist with Wylliams Henry Contemporary Dance Company in their show “Juncture” (2019). She has performed in Modern Night at the Folly and Open Stage in Kansas City, Mo, 2020. Sydney recently moved to Seattle to further her dancing career. She is the newest dancer to Khambatta Dance Company and is excited to come back and teach at Island Dance.
